Flower Wreaths

May 29, 2017 by Nicole Collins Happy Memorial Day! First off, a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone out there that fights to keep our country safe every day. “We live in the land of the free because of the brave.” It's important to remember that Memorial Day was not a holiday invented for barbecues. Today's project is one that I've actually become recently obsessed with. Wreath making. I've always been a Dollar Store front door décor kind of gal. But one rainy day, I decided to try my hand at making a pretty, flowery wreath; and now I can't stop myself. I don't know what it is, but I really like to craft when it's raining. I guess because there's really nothing else fun I can do when I'm stuck inside

Sour Beef and Dumplings

May 27, 2017 by Nicole Collins I embraced my inner German Grandma today. At least, that's the first thing I thought to myself when I looked at the trail of flour and potato I left in various places around my kitchen. Every year for Mother's Day, I order my mom Sour Beef and Dumplings from a local restaurant. It's one of her favorite dishes that reminds her of her childhood. Her grandmother was an AMAZING cook (from the stories I've heard), and this is one dish that my mom can still see my Granny making. My mom and I have dinner together every Friday night, and last night we got in to a conversation about my ideal dinner party. We've all heard that question: If you could have a dinner party w

Melon, Salami, and Spinach Pizza

May 21, 2017 by Nicole Collins Greetings from Florida! I'm about halfway through my trip, and I'm having the BEST time! This trip has been 100% about food. You thought I couldn't stop talking about my St. Michaels trip? Well, there's a good chance I'll be talking about this Florida trip for the rest of the year. #sorrynotsorry I've only been here for 2 days, and I've already had some of the best food EVER! I've been getting so much recipe inspiration. I can't wait to put my brain to work and see if I can recreate some of the yumminess back home. I'm not saying I'm ready to go back home though. Just want to make sure we're on the same page. In fact, I might just stay here. Too much good stuff

Chocolate Chunk and Crab Chip Cookies

May 19, 2017 by Nicole Collins We’re stepping a little bit outside of the box today. But I need you guys to trust me! Today’s recipe is another one that was inspired by my trip to St. Michaels. I know shocker. But, I’m telling you, that trip was pure gold for my creative juices! I'll do my best to stop talking about it, but no promises. So, on the trip, I’ve already told you that Old Bay Crab Chips were pretty much the star of the show. The Florida ladies couldn’t get enough. The Maryland ladies knew the joy of having access to this yummy snack 24/7. The crab chips were the inspiration for this Old Bay Snack Mix that we made the other day. But, what I didn’t tell you is that chocolate chip c

Spiced Green Tea

May 15, 2017 by Nicole Collins Happy Monday! That kinda seems like an oxymoron doesn't it... Anyways, how was your Mother's Day? Any fun celebrations? Any fun gifts? Any delicious brunches? My poor mama was sick sick sick! She started feeling icky on Thursday, and it progressed from there. It was mostly congestion in her chest, but she just sounded awful. Every year, I order the same meal for her for Mother's Day: Sour Beef and Dumplings from Silver Spring Mining Company, and she didn't even want that. I felt so bad for her! I wanted to whatever I could to make my mama feel better, so I made her some of this magical tea. I'm telling you, this stuff is the cure to EVERYTHING! We've been havin

Cheeseboard for Lunch

May 13, 2017 by Nicole Collins Anytime I can make an appetizer in to a meal, I'm a happy girl. It's one of my favorite things in the whole wide world to do. I can't tell you how many times I visit a restaurant, and I don't look beyond the appetizer and drink menu. And because appetizers (or appies, as I like to call them) are just small bites, that means I get more bang for my caloric buck. (That's what I tell myself anyways.) When I want all the things, appies as a meal are the way to go. I'm still coming down from my awesome girl's trip to the St. Michaels Wine Festival, so today's recipe is kind of an ode to that. There's a good chance I'll be talking about the trip for the next few weeks

Old Bay Snack Mix

May 9, 2017 by Nicole Collins Today, we're talking Old Bay. Old Bay is a Maryland staple. It goes on all of our seafood...especially steamed crabs and steamed shrimp. And, that's just scratching the surface. We put it on pizza. We put it on potato chips. We put it in beer. We even put it in ice cream I definitely take for granted that Old Bay is a local spice. I'll never forget the first time I met my bestie's hubby. It was pretty early on in their relationship, so they were still in the “impress” phase. We were visiting him in New York, and he made us shrimp for dinner. As soon as we both took a bite, we looked at each other in disgust. It was awful. Finally, one of us spoke up and was like

Honey Chipotle Shrimp Tacos with Corn Avocado Salsa

May 5, 2017 by Nicole Collins Happy Cinco de Mayo! And Happy Friday, fo sho. I had a couple of days off in the beginning of the week, but somehow working a shortened week always feels longer than working a regular one. Are you guys doing anything to celebrate the holiday or the weekend? I've got a 5k on Saturday, followed by a wine and food truck festival. This will be my second winefest weekend in a row, but at least I will have earned this one by running a race first. I'm more excited about the food truck festival though. There's something about bouncing from truck to truck, reading the ever changing menus, and trying a bite from as many trucks as I can that just totally makes my day. And

Spicy BBQ Chicken Taco Boats

May 2, 2017 by Nicole Collins Happy Taco Tuesday! Do you guys remember when Taco Tuesday fell on Cinco de Mayo a couple years back? It was pretty much the best thing to ever happen to Tuesday. So, since this is Cinco de Mayo week, we have to do something special for Taco Tuesday. I definitely don't need a reason or a designated day of the week to eat tacos. And I certainly don't need a holiday to tell me to shove Mexican flavored goodness in my face. I pretty much live for tacos...and nachos...and guac...and margaritas. If I had to pick one thing to eat for the rest of my life, there's a good chance my answer would be tacos. Today, we're switching it up a little bit and we're eating our taco
