February 26, 2018 by Nicole Collins Have I got a treat for you today! Remember when I promised you truffle dip the other day? Well ladies and gents…the time has come! So, I told you that while I was in Florida, we bought this AMAZING truffle artichoke dip at the farmer’s market. We bought some rosemary focaccia to go with it, too. Then, when we went on our brunch tour, we had that same truffle artichoke dip at one of the restaurants. It was a farm to table restaurant, so it was the exact same dip we had just eaten at the market. This dip fed us for a few meals. It was just soooooooo good! We ate it with our focaccia. We ate it on a spoon. I even spread it on pierogis. So good. But, the probl
February 22, 2018 by Nicole Collins Happy National Margarita Day! I feel like this is the type of national holiday that warrants the day off of work. Who's with me? First off, can I tell you how much I love that pretty much every food and drink has its own national holiday now? I don't know who determines that or when it officially became a thing, but it's so much fun to eat or drink something just because it's its special day. Side note...check out that it's/its proper grammar usage right up there. I'm really good at their/there/they're, you're/you, and two/to/too too! I'm not already a few margaritas in. I promise. Anyone that knows me knows that “margarita” is the magic word for me. I ca
February 19, 2018 by Nicole Collins Guys…we’ve made it to triple digits! This is my 101st post! That is such a craaaaaaaazy thought for me! I’m going to let you in on a little secret. I know you love those! When I first started this blog journey less than a year ago, I really wasn’t sure I had enough content (or talent) to keep this baby up and running. My original goal was to post at least once per week. And, I planned to share a lot more doggie posts, because I thought I might need some filler material. But, as it turns out, this old brain of mine has a lot more floating around up there than I originally thought! I quickly realized that my minimum posts needed to be twice a week; and hones
February 17, 2018 by Nicole Collins I’m ready to party! Actually, I feel like I’ve been partying all month! I mean, I started February in Florida which was super fun. Then, I came back and had my friend Alison’s and my mom’s birthdays back to back. And to celebrate with my mama, we took a day off of work to go to lunch and the movies to see Fifty Shades Freed. Which. Was. Everything! Then this week, we’ve had Fat Tuesday, Valentine’s Day, and Chinese New Year all in the same week. Talk about a fun week. And tonight, we’re finally getting together to celebrate Alison’s birthday at a wine and tapas bar, which I’ve never been to but am soooo excited for. I am on fun overload! Though, I don’t
February 14, 2018 by Nicole Collins Happy Valentine’s Day!! This year sure is moving right along, isn’t it? Fine by me! As long as time slows down once we hit the warm weather months… Today we’re bringing things around full circle. Back in August, we celebrated Half Valentine’s Day with this Chocolate Covered Strawberry Banana Bread. And, it sure was YUMMY! So today, I figured everyone is probably at the point where they’re over eating healthy and they’re thinking “maybe next year” on the weight loss resolution. Which means, there must be a pile of good intentioned overripe bananas that never met their healthy destinies that are literally dying to be used. So, why not bake some more banana b
February 11, 2018 by Nicole Collins We're breaking out the sewing machine today, guys! Quick story...I used to have this manager that every time someone said "so" or "so what", he'd say "sew buttons". This was 100% of the time.
This was also the same manager that would come up with random words of the day like "meow" or "watermelon", and we were challenged to hide these words in conversations with customers. For example, "I love watermelon" would be a fail. He was looking for usage like "ok, we're gonna watermelon outside to the car to do the walk around." Sneak it in fast enough so the customer didn't realize we were talking nonsense. It's funny some of the things our brains keep in memor
February 8, 2018 by Nicole Collins I'm back! And, I'm so ready to go back to Florida, that's for sure. Like permanently. I won't overload you with all of the details of my trip. Though, I have soooo much that I want to tell you! But, I'll just give you a quick(ish) recap. There was one major accomplishment throughout the weekend. We. Ate. Everything. I arrived on Thursday. And, my first meal was tacos. If you ever want to know how to bring joy into my life, just feed me tacos! But, don't forget the margarita! So, we ordered these dynamite shrimp tacos with jicama. We thought it was going to be regular tacos with a bang bang type shrimp and maybe some kind of jicama slaw or something. Nope! T
February 4, 2018 by Nicole Collins I know I told you I'd be off the grid for a few days while I'm on vacation, but I just couldn't stay away! Since it's Super Bowl Sunday, I just had to make sure I set you guys up for success. Truth be told, we're not even planning on watching the game tonight. And honestly, even if I was “watching the game”, I still wouldn't be watching the game. But, that doesn't mean that we don't have a ridiculously large spread of food on the agenda for today! Super Bowl for me is about food and the commercials. That's it. Unless the Ravens are playing. Then, I might tune in to at least the last quarter. There are certain responsibilities that come along with being Balt
