Merry Margaritas

December 21, 2019 by Nicole Collins

Can you believe there are only 4 days left until Christmas?

And that would mean that today is Day 9 in our 12 Days of Beverages Challenge!

Do we have any risk takers out there that haven't finished their Christmas shopping yet?

I'm completely finished, BUT there's one gift that I'm waiting to deliver that isn't supposed to be here until December 24.

Talk about cutting it close!

I'm particularly nervous, because the last time I ordered from this particular online retailer a few weeks ago, they ended up “losing” 2 of the three items in my order, refunding me instead of replacing the items I wanted, then delivering the “lost” items a few days after their original delivery date. I mean, I ended up with a free bag of dog food and pyrex dishes; but only after I'd repurchased both items because I REALLY needed them.

So, cross your fingers that my last gift comes on time (or early)!

I think today's drink is just what we all need to calm those last minute nerves before the big day.

Today, we're making Merry Margaritas!

I'm sure I've told you before, but I'm a margarita girl through and through. I can never turn down a good margarita. So, of course, we definitely couldn't have a drink challenge without one!

If you guys haven't noticed yet, we've been using basically the same ingredients in very different ways in all of our drinks, so far. And, today's drink is no different!

We start with some cranberry juice. To that, we add some gold tequila, some fresh lime juice, and some agave syrup. That's it! Give it a stir, pour it into a glass rimmed with salt, and you're ready for the merriment! And bonus, the salt on the glass kinda looks like a rim of fresh snow, so these couldn't be more seasonal!

But for the record, snow in the form of margarita glass salt is the only type of snow I want to see. Got it?

Let's take a quick look at all of the other seasonal drinks we've made so far:

Day 1: Pretzel Hot Chocolate

Day 2: Apple Pear Sangria

Day 3: Ninjabread Hot Chocolate

Day 4: Bad Santa Hot Chocolate

Day 5: Fizzy Grinch

Day 6: Christmas Tea

Day 7: The Poinsettia

Day 8: Candy Cane Spritzers

Alrighty, folks? Who's going to say our holiday cocktail mantra with me? Please drink responsibly!

Cheers, and let's drink!

Merry Margaritas

Serves: 6 Print

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups cranberry juice

  • 2 ¼ cups tequila (I used gold)

  • juice of 3 limes

  • 6 tbsp agave syrup

  • coarse sea salt, for rimming glass

  • frozen cranberries and lime slices, for garnish

Directions:

  1. In a pitcher, add cranberry juice, tequila, lime juice, and agave. Stir to combine.

  2. Run a wedge of lime around the rim of your glasses. Dip the rim into a small plate of sea salt to salt your rim. Pour the margarita mix in to prepared glasses. Garnish with frozen cranberries and lime slices. Enjoy!

Recipe notes:

*You could easily convert this to a single serving recipe. Combine 4 oz (½ cup) cranberry juice, 3 oz (2 shots) tequila, juice of ½ a lime, and 1 tbsp agave syrup to make just 1 drink.

*Frozen cranberries take the place of ice cubes in our drink so that our margarita doesn't get watered down. But, you can certainly use ice cubes instead, if you prefer.

*Please drink responsibly!
